A Community Project

Since 1937, thousands of people have enjoyed the entertainment at the Forest Park Band Shell, in Brazil, Indiana. The Jackson Township Community Band has performed every 4th of July, and the Brazil Concert Band has presented stirring concerts every Sunday evening in the summer. The Park and it's Band Shell offer a wonderful setting to relax and enjoy outstanding music and entertainment.

The Forest Park Bench project, with the help of the Brazil community, will upgrade the seating at the band shell with comfortable and maintenance free benches. They are 8 feet long and made of durable, recycled materials. They should provide great seating for many years.

You can participate! You can donate a bench for the park and have it customized with the message of your choice. Each bench can be engraved with up to 28 characters of print (including spaces). The engraving is actually molded into the top board- it looks excellent and will last.

Donating a bench is a great way to memorialize a loved one, or honor your family, a business, a high school class, or a past band member. It is the perfect Christmas present to parents or loved ones.

The cost is $500 per bench and your contribution is tax deductible. You select what you want engraved on the bench. All of the money goes directly towards purchasing the benches.

Cash donations of less than $500 are welcome. If you donate $25 or more you will receive a print of the band shell by local artist Connie McClure.

We anticipate the first group of benches will be installed by June 2010. You can see and sit on a sample bench at Brazil City Hall.
